Lijnco has been producing CO2 neutral since 01-01-2023

Video: Peter de Vries presents a new joyful green fact: Lijnco produces CO2 neutrally.

In the summer we shared with you our ambition in relation to the reduction of our C02 emissions. Participation in the co2 performance ladder made it clear where we stand and where we want to go. We have continued our CO2 reduction and are proud of what we have achieved:

Lijnco has succeeded in producing CO2 neutrally.

Making CO2 emissions transparent with Climate Calc.

How can we determine that we produce CO2 neutrally? First of all, it starts with gaining insight into your emissions. Fortunately, a globally certified system has been devised for this with which this can be done very precisely: Climate Calc. With the help of Climate Calc and our own source systems, we have mapped this out very precisely. We can now calculate the emissions or savings per product or service that we make or purchase.

The calculation takes place in 3 areas, 2 of which apply to production: the use of gas and the use of electricity. Both are fundamental for us as a producer, gas for heating and electricity for running the machines.

What have we done to achieve neutrality?

Reducing and compensating for gas consumption
To reduce our gas consumption, we have installed a high-efficiency boiler with heat recovery. We compensate for the remaining emissions by investing in a certified project for the construction of a large food forest. Compensation means that when we emit ourselves, but achieve CO2 absorption at a different location, you can offset this against each other.

Generate your own electricity and buy green
Electricity, we generate that ourselves with our solar park here on the roof. When we generate too little due to too little sun, we buy green electricity so that we do not start emitting and negate our green profit.

Bottom line

If we add up the savings and compensation of gas and electricity, then we know for sure that we produce neutrally.
